A last comparison of Irish car insurance prices in January 2009 by the Financial Regulator found that there are fairly big price differences in the highest and lowest quotes from different insurers. Comprehensive cover for Self and spouse. Car has alarm and is garaged at night. The lowest quote was from Zurich at €426 a year. The highest price was from Quinn Direct - at €840 a difference of €414 a year (almost double).
Cheap Car Insurance Ireland Another price comparison was done for a 46 year old in Tralee driving a 1.4l 2004 Renault Megane valued at 8000 euro. With five years no claims discount and no penalty points. Driving 12000 miles a year, alarmed. Full licence for 23 years. The highest comprehensive insurance quote was from FBD at €440 a year. The cheapest quote was from Zurich again - through a broker - at €252 a year. A saving of €188 Euro.
